About Golden Canyon Art

Golden Canyon Art is an independent art brand rooted in Tucson, Arizona — built around original characters, desert adventures, and the belief that art should make you smile before it makes you think.

The shop is a growing collection of character-based illustrations, starting with coloring pages and expanding into prints, apparel, and more as the adventure continues. The goal is simple: create work that feels personal, looks distinctive, and gives people something genuinely fun to hold onto.

You're in Tucson. It shows.

Tucson has a way of getting into your work whether you plan it or not — the light, the landscape, the strange and wonderful things that end up thriving here despite the heat. Golden Canyon Art leans into that. The Arizona landmark coloring page series was born directly from a love of this place: its ghost towns, its wildflowers, its saguaro-dotted horizon lines. There's a lot of Arizona left to explore, and Peggotty has a long list.

So... who is Peggotty?

Peggotty is a penguin who lives in the Sonoran Desert. Nobody is entirely sure how she got here. She doesn't seem particularly concerned about it.

What she is concerned about is adventure — specifically, visiting as many Arizona landmarks as possible and documenting every stop along the way. She's made it to Tombstone. She's wandered through fields of desert wildflowers. She has opinions about the heat that she keeps mostly to herself.

She is, in short, a penguin who ended up somewhere unexpected and decided to make it her own. Most people find that relatable.

The artist behind the penguin

Hi — I'm Jessica, the Tucson-based artist and founder of Golden Canyon Art.

My creative practice spans a lot of ground: illustration, oil painting, and digital work in Procreate and Canva. Golden Canyon Art is where the character work lives — the stories, the coloring pages, the world that Peggotty and her friends are slowly building out.

I also volunteer with The Drawing Studio and Breakout Studios here in Tucson, which keeps me connected to the local art community and reminds me regularly why making things matters.

Golden Canyon Art is still early in its story — but then again, so is Peggotty's quest. Thanks for being here for it.
